Jamita E. Swearengen is the best candidate for the Shelby County Court Clerk's office. With her proven leadership in being the chairwoman of the Memphis city council, she is a boots on the ground leader who cared for her community. She brings a love for the city of Memphis that is unmatched being the daughter of the honorable James E. Swearengen and retired educator Mrs. Hattie Swearengen Tuggle. She's learned to serve the people of Memphis in being a family and community engagement specialist for the local public education system for her current position while also serving as councilwoman for District 4. The City of Memphis – Division of Planning and Development (DPD), Kimley-Horn, Malasri Engineering, and The Carter Malone Group are heading the $200 million dollar development investment of District 4 to where $75 million will be allocated for parks, $75 million will be allocated for activating the Memphis 3.0 Comprehensive Plan, and $50 million will be used for revitalizing City-wide assets.

The 75 million dollars “Parks” investment includes Orange Mound Park Splash Pad, McFarland Park Improvements, Glenview Community Center Deferred Maintenance, McFarland Community Center Deferred Maintenance, Chandler Park Playground, Orange Mound Community Center Deferred Maintenance, Alcy-Warren Park Playground Resurfacing, and O’Brien Park Playground Resurfacing.

The 75 million dollars “Activating Memphis 3.0 Comprehensive Plan” investment includes Orange Mound (which is a large-scale investment), Soulsville (which is also a large-scale investment), Lamar & Kimball (Street Safety Improvements), Lamar & McLean (which is considered an early stage investment), Rhodes near Sherwood Middle School (which is also considered an early stage investment), Neptune & Walker (considered an early stage investment), McLemore (early stage investment), Park & Getwell (also an early stage investment/traffic & pedestrian signalization), Perkins & Knight Arnold (traffic & pedestrian signalization), and Mendenhall & Knight Arnold (traffic & pedestrian signalization).

The 50 million dollar community “City-Wide assets” investment will go towards Liberty Park and Historic Melrose.
